About BEP
In effort to respond to the diverse needs of young architects and architectural interns, early in 2008 the Buffalo/WNY Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) formed the committee called Buffalo Emerging Professionals (BEP). It is the intention of AIA Buffalo/WNY that the introduction of BEP will facilitate the direct and active engagement of emerging professionals in the field of architecture. This dynamic involvement of recent graduates, intern architects, and young professionals, will create a well-rounded, creative, and balanced architectural community in Western New York. In this way, BEP will be an instrument to further nurture the development of emerging architects in Western New York.
BEP reaches out to the architectural community through the AIA membership, local firms, and architecture schools in New York State, while also directly addressing intern architects and licensed professionals. BEP also collaborates with other established emerging professionals groups and AIA chapters state-wide, as well as nationally, to offer services and programs that meet the needs common to emerging professionals. Although the focus of BEP is to address the needs and interests of emerging professionals in architecture, membership is open to everyone in the Western New York architectural community with an interest in BEP's goals and services.
Mission
Buffalo Emerging Professionals (BEP) is a committee of the American Institute of Architects Buffalo / WNY Chapter.
It is BEP's mission to establish a networking environment to promote the professional development of recently licensed architects, recent graduates, non-licensed professionals, and Associate AIA members in the architectural community of Western New York.
BEP will host networking events and educational initiatives, nurture mentoring relationships, and provide a platform for dialogue and the exhibition of work of rising professionals.
