Architecture + Education brings a decade of momentum and successful public outreach to Buffalo Architecture Foundation (BAF).
The programwas founded in 2000 as an initiative of AIA Buffalo/Western New York to increase awareness of the built and natural environment by school-aged children through integrating fundamental architectural principles into the grade school curriculum.
Beginning by offering a series of workshops for architects and teachers, Architecture + Education has grown to provide a strong, collaborative program oriented around the renovations of the Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) and bringing together school children, teachers, practicing architects and university students majoring in architecture.
By unanimous decision of both the BAF and AIA Buffalo/Western New York Boards of Directors, Architecture + Education moved from AIA Buffalo/Western New York to Buffalo Architecture Foundation in January 2011to become one of the primary programs of the foundation.
