Residential Committee
The Residential Committee of the Buffalo/WNY Chapter of the AIA seeks to support and enhance the education of the general public and the architectural community with regard to residential architecture and neighborhood design. The Buffalo Home And Garden Show, which is held each year at the Buffalo Convention Center, provides an ideal venue for our Chapter to achieve this goal. In the past, our Chapter has sponsored lectures by Architects and showcased examples of high quality residential design.
The Residential Committee is now coordinating four, one-hour, interactive seminars for the 2011 Home Show. Two local Architects will speak and display their work at each seminar. The public is invited to watch, listen and ask questions. Seminars will focus on popular topics including: how to renovate an existing home to improve circulation and space efficiency, how to transform and compliment an existing home with an addition, how to make a home more accessible and energy efficient.
The Residential Committee has an ongoing commitment to local newspapers and magazines to submit articles from our AIA members to keep the general public informed of important issues and trends relating to residential design. Many of the articles are available on this section of the website.
Active members of The Residential Committee include David Fleming, Herbert Guenther, Patricia Bailey, Pat Darrow and David Giusiana. The Committee welcomes new members and new venues to collaborate with other professional organizations. Please contact the Chairperson, David Fleming, if you are interested. |
