Residential Committee
The Residential Committee of the Buffalo/WNY Chapter of the AIA seeks to support and enhance the education of the general public and the architectural community with regard to residential architecture and neighborhood design. The Buffalo Home and Garden Show, which is held each year at the Buffalo Convention Center, provides an ideal venue for our Chapter to achieve this goal. In the past, our Chapter has sponsored lectures by nationally recognized architects and showcased their work alongside images of homes designed by local architects.
The Residential Committee is currently planning an ongoing, interactive feature show at the 2010 Home Show titled “Ask The Architect.” This show will allow the public to submit residential design challenges ranging from renovations and additions to new homes. A licensed Architect will sketch out design solutions and explain how the challenge was met.
The Residential Committee identifies and provides additional opportunities for the general public and architects to expand their technical and design knowledge within the residential arena. The Committee has an ongoing commitment to local newspapers and magazines to submit articles from our AIA members to keep the general public informed of important issues and trends relating to residential design.
Active members of The Residential Committee include David Fleming, Herbert Guenther, Patricia Bailey, Pat Darrow and David Giusiana. The Committee welcomes new members and new venues to collaborate with other professional organizations. Please contact Chairperson David Fleming if you are interested. |
