AIA Buffalo/WNY Residential Committee: Home Show Event

 

The Residential Committee of the Buffalo Western New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects seeks to support and enhance the education of the general public and the architectural community with regard to residential architecture and neighborhood design.  AIA members are well known for their work on commercial projects but they can add value to residential projects as well.

“Ask an Architect” an interactive exhibit at the Buffalo Western New York Home and Garden Show (2 weekends only March 5-7 and March 12-14) will feature a team of AIA Registered Architects available to help homeowners with various design dilemmas and show that good design makes a difference.

If you are considering building a new home or remodeling an old house, considering small interior changes, accessibility, a garage, a getaway, energy efficiency or exterior changes, please refer to the Schedule of Topics and Presenters. 

Homeowners are encouraged to bring photos, plans, sketches, surveys and other information that an architect can utilize to understand the problem and begin the exploration of potential solutions. 
Design is a process, so the goal is not to walk away with a set of building plans, it is to walk away with a head full of ideas.  Images of completed local projects that illustrate the theme of the hour will also be presented to inspire and spur the imagination.
