This presentation will teach you about the evolution of paving stones in North America and the manufacturing standards and process used today.  Understanding the manufacturing process and the new technologies available and how they will impact the aesthetic and long term performance will allow you to choose a product that is fit for purpose. We will explore various physical characteristics such as style, shape, texture, color and pattern and examine proper installation methods. Utilizing the many options available today ensures that the selection process will translate into great design. Includes traditional installation methods as well as permeable, roof deck, pedestal paver.

Learning Objectives: After completion of this presentation, designers and specifiers will be able to:
Describe the inception and history of concrete pavers.
List new paver technology and industry design trends.
Utilize ASTM Standard C936 for evaluating concrete pavers. 
Specify proper installation procedures for concrete pavers.
Devise a method for selecting concrete pavers characteristics such as style, shape, texture, color and pattern. 
Examine LEED criteria for achieving potential credits for using concrete pavers such as solar reflectivity and recycled materials.
