Specifying and Installing Thin Veneers

AIA New York State, the 13 Chapters of the New York Region, and Oldcastle APG University are working together in 2021 to provide continuing education programs exclusively to AIA New York State members.

Cohesive and resilient designs are hard to achieve, and since the 1950s, manufactured stone has been a lightweight alternative to natural stone. Thin veneers have wide range of applications in settings from residential single-family homes to multistory commercial buildings and multifamily construction. Understanding “Value Engineering” opportunities during the design phase is critical to insure design intent through the bidding and construction phases.

In this session, experts from Oldcastle APG will review thin veneer specification and installation codes and best practices insuring resilient and safe interior and exterior facades; including understanding “value engineering” opportunities during the design phase to insure design intent through the bidding and construction phases.
