The past few years have changed so much in our society, and have brought to light many issues that can inform our design and construction industry, notably in the design of the residence hall:
The cost of education is rising faster than we can sustain.
Climate change is impacting every aspect of our lives, including the built environment.
Mental health considerations are part of the equation, yet seemingly separate from how we design buildings.
What can we learn if we look at these challenges together, using them to inform holistic and future-focused improvements to support designing our future? A team of architects, engineers, and college facility professionals came together to discuss just this.
In this session, the panel will review the process the team undertook, including core principles, challenges they faced, and outcomes. They will engage in discussion from each of their own perspectives about how each constraint can inform the whole for greater success. Finally, they will review thoughts and provide a summation about how this process and type of thinking can change the world. Seriously.
